In my time serving under Pastor Gua as a young adult ministry intern at the College View Church, I witnessed firsthand the depth of her character and the strength of her leadership. It is evident in every aspect of her ministry that she walks closely with Jesus. Her leadership is not performative, but is rooted in humility, prayer, and a genuine love for people. She poured all of her God-given gifts, talents, heart, and soul into the young adults at College View Church. One of the qualities that defines Pastor Gua is her availability. She is the kind of leader you can call in the middle of the night, and she will show up ready to listen, pray, and support. Her ministry is deeply relational; she leads not from a distance, but alongside her people. She shepherds with empathy, creating space for others to be heard, seen, and valued. Another quality I admire most about her is her boldness. Pastor Gua is unafraid to do what is right, even in the face of hardship or opposition. In moments of adversity, she remains steadfast, being grounded in Scripture, guided by the Holy Spirit, and committed to truth. She is an advocate for the voiceless, a safe place for the hurting, and a compassionate presence for the unseen. Pastor Gua is also one of the most intentional leaders I have ever worked with. I remember during our planning meetings for Sabbath School and young adult programs, she consistently brought up that everything we planned needed to have purpose and meaning behind it. Nothing was done simply because it had always been done that way, everything was done with mission in mind. Through her example, I learned that true ministry is not about programming, but about pastoring people with care, clarity, and intentionality. It was such an honor to serve alongside her. Through her example, she taught me what it truly means to minister to people with authenticity and care. I gained not only a mentor, but a lifelong friend. As I step into pastoral ministry this coming year, she will be one of the first people I call for wisdom and encouragement. I am deeply grateful for the way she has shaped my understanding of what it means to lead like Jesus.

Pastor Montour's ministry is aptly described by one of my new favorite words, "grit." In the two decades I have been witness to her faithful work for Christ, Guadalupe's tenacity, resilience and passion have been steadfast. No doubt her leadership acumen has always been high, and she is world-renown for her relational abilities; However Pastor Guadalupe's perseverance and endurance needs to be lauded in a professional arena that offers more barricades than bridges. I have deep admiration of Pastor Montour in so many arenas, but most of all I admire her. . . grit.

Pastor Gua is a natural born leader and leads with a heart filled with love and compassion. She is someone who gets the job done and does it well. Caring for each person, she is intentional in seeing the humanity and working purposefully with each individual. She is a purpose filled woman who speaks truth always with kindness and sincerity. She is someone who I consider deeply humble and very relatable to most people she comes in contact with. I have every faith in her that she will continue to lead well with strength and courage, depending wholeheartedly on Christ as her best friend and truest companion. She sees people in a way that makes someone feel known and valued. She intentionally leads by walking with people journeying alongside them for the path ahead. She is someone whom I deeply admire and look up to as someone to emulate. I know she will continue to be shaped by her life experiences and gracefully take things as they come her way. “

Guadalupe Montour is a tremendous co-laborer in pastoral ministry. She is fully committed to shepherding younger generations and beyond within our congregation. She takes initiative, collaborates and is a gifted creative. She has created safe spaces for people, especially young people, to grow their faith in Christ. Her preaching is biblical, Christ-centered, passionately focused on including the outsider, encouraging and challenging all at the same time. Pastor Guadalupe is also a substantive seminar presenter and social media content creator. She carries administrative capabilities and team building in her ministry toolbox. It is evident to me that the Holy Spirit has gifted her for the pastoral ministry to lead this generation to Jesus and equip them to do the same.

It is with sincere pleasure and enthusiasm that I offer my recommendation for Pastor Guadalupe Montour to be commissioned to the ministry of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. I have had the privilege of serving under the leadership of Pastor Guadalupe as the Communications Director for Stone Mountain SDA Church and also on the Tween Church leadership team, a ministry that falls under her leadership as the pastor over our Younger Generation Ministries.

In the year and half that I have come to know Pastor Guadalupe, I have grown to admire her and appreciate the gifts of her ministry. Pastor Guadalupe is deeply compassionate, particularly to the marginalized, underserved and overlooked. This very trait was at the core of Jesus’ ministry. Her genuine care can be felt especially as she shows her deep commitment to social justice issues, and her willingness to enter difficult spaces with unwavering courage and conviction. Her view that evangelism is not meant to be contained in the four walls of the building is refreshing. Pastor Guadalupe understands that our gospel is the same but our mode of sharing it has to be contemporary.

Beyond her pastoral role, Pastor Guadalupe’s ministry is relational. She listens, supports and celebrates those she ministers to, particularly our youth. Her office is a safe haven and a judgement free zone. Discipleship is a core belief of her ministry. In working closely with her, I have observed how intentional she is about the spiritual growth and development of our young people and her desire for them to replicated that in someone else. In leading Youth Church, she has given them ownership of their ministry, so that they are not just consumers but also contributors.

Lastly, she brings the word of God to life in creative ways with cross-generational appeal. My own pre-teens love when she is scheduled to preach, and that speaks volumes. I have every confidence that Pastor Guadalupe Montour is fit for the office of ministry, and will continue to serve as a faithful and compassion leader.

It has been my privilege to serve alongside Pastor Gua, whose ministry consistently reflects the heart of Jesus. Gua leads with authenticity, humility, and deep compassion, qualities that make her both a trusted leader and a genuine friend. Her walk with Christ is evident in the way she listens, encourages, and advocates for others, especially those whose voices are often overlooked. Whether she’s mentoring young leaders, guiding a team through change, or sitting with someone in need, Gua brings empathy, wisdom, and grace to every interaction. She approaches ministry with intentionality and creativity, always seeking ways to build community and deepen faith. Pastor Gua’s integrity, strong work ethic, and unwavering commitment to service have been a blessing to our church and to me personally.

What stands out most about Gua is how deeply relational her ministry is. She prioritizes people over programs, believing that genuine transformation happens through meaningful connection and shared experience. Her leadership is never about position, it’s about empowering others to discover their gifts and grow into the leaders God has called them to be. She consistently creates space for collaboration and learning, modeling servant leadership that inspires trust and confidence. Gua is transparent, courageous, and deeply faith-filled, she doesn’t just speak about walking with God; she truly lives it. Her leadership is grounded in conviction and guided by prayer, never timid or complacent. She approaches challenges with confidence in God’s promises and a steadfast commitment to truth and integrity. Gua’s relationship with God is the foundation of her ministry. I am profoundly grateful for her influence and friendship, and I am confident that her continued ministry will bear lasting fruit for the Kingdom.

Testimonials

My name is Zuzu Masina, and I am a biology graduate student and worship musician. For the past five years, I’ve had the privilege of knowing, working with, and being discipled by Pastor Guadalupe. From the moment I arrived at Union College, she made me feel welcomed and connected me with opportunities to serve in worship, showing from the start that she is a relational mobilizer who ensures people are seen, heard, and loved.

As I stepped into the role of worship leader for The Well Young Adult Ministry at College View SDA Church, her guidance helped me grow both in confidence and in my relationship with God, a testament to her intentional and empowering mentorship. Pastor Guadalupe invests deeply in others, offering patient, discerning guidance that nurtures growth and equips young adults to thrive.

She is also a model of humility and integrity. I have witnessed her courageously admit mistakes, stand up for what is right, and fight for people, always reflecting Christ’s love in action. Whenever I stumbled or failed, she saw the best in me, encouraged me, and gently held me accountable for my growth.

It is obvious that God has given Pastor Guadalupe a unique and incredible gift and calling to pastoral ministry. Her wisdom, grace, and integrity position her to continue to lead with a profound kingdom impact wherever God leads her.

Zuzu Masina

The Well YA Pastoral Intern

When I first met Pastor Guadalupe, she was doing what she loves to do, giving away free stuff. The next time I needed her help she was was giving me free stuff, but this time it was her time and advice. Over the last seven years that I’ve known her, what was once free has become invaluable.

As a young adult embarking on the adventure of a first job and a first line of responsibility Pastor Guadalupe was often the first person I would run to for advice. Soon I would get to know more of who she is and what she stands for. She has always stood for grace, love, and a person-first theology. She strives for a world in which she sees, hears, and loves every person she interacts with. When I worked with her on the Well Ministry at College View Church, She would intentionally plan each program by having the leaders take charge. Through her leadership, we as leaders were able to grow in our own rights. I learned the value of inclusion when she told us that we couldn’t have the same people doing the same things every Sabbath. I learned the value of perspective when she guided us through tricky scenarios with grace and compassion. And I learned the value of patience as Pastor Guadalupe worked with the most amicable and the most awkward of people that she came in contact with.

I’m honored to call her both my Pastor and my friend.

The Well YA Pastoral Intern

Pastor Guadalupe became an unexpected friend and confidant, someone who is truly life-giving. We were paired as roommates at a pastors’ retreat, and from the moment we met, I found her to be funny, easy to talk to, and a gracious, attentive listener. She is full of life, loves to explore, and generously invites others to explore alongside her. Guadalupe offers practical, real-to-life wisdom with both honesty and compassion. When a colleague asked me for a reference for pre-engagement counseling, she was the first person who came to mind. The young couple absolutely loved her, describing her as amazing, realistic, deeply helpful, and full of wisdom. I feel incredibly blessed to call Guadalupe a warm and welcoming friend, one who is consistently supportive, encouraging, and who radiates energy, love, acceptance, and the heart of Jesus.
