"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters." Colossians 3:23

Management

My approach to management is shaped by a desire to manage like Jesus. His leadership was people first, purpose driven, and adaptable. Jesus never treated management as the simple organization of tasks. Instead, He focused on helping His disciples grow, thrive, and step into their calling. He taught them, listened to them, and created an environment where they could ask questions, wrestle with truth, and learn through real experiences (Mark 4:34). He kept the mission clear (even though it would take them until his death to truly understand it) while ensuring that the people carrying it feel supported, valued, and empowered.

In the same spirit, I work toward building strong relationships and creating systems and processes that genuinely serve people well. Jesus consistently organized His ministry in ways that met real needs. At times He sent the disciples out two by two to strengthen their confidence and teamwork (Mark 6:7). At other moments He arranged the crowds in groups so everyone could be fed and cared for effectively (Mark 6:39–42). He also gathered His followers intentionally to clarify vision, direction, and next steps (Mark 6:30–31).

Likewise, whether planning an event, coordinating volunteers, or guiding a team through transition, I aim to provide clarity, encouragement, and structure in a way that honors both the task and the people behind it. Effective systems support relationships, and strong relationships strengthen every system.

At the same time, I recognize that even the best intentions, clearest plans, and most thoughtful processes can still fall short of someone else’s expectations or understanding. Leadership and management require the humility to learn from those moments, and continually refine both approach and communication.

Managing like Jesus also means delegating with intention. The spirit of God has equipped me, but I do not have the ability to do it all. Jesus entrusted real responsibility to His disciples, not just the things he didn't want to do. He allowed them to preach, serve, heal, and lead. In the same way, I aim to empower leaders to take genuine ownership of their roles, even to make it their own in areas where that is possible.

To keep teams aligned and thriving, I create practical tools such as planning documents, communication boards, and schedules. These systems provide clarity and organization so that everyone can serve with confidence endeavoring to diminish as many unknowns as possible. Ultimately, managing like Jesus means leading with compassion, clarity, adaptability, and purpose, helping each person walk faithfully in the work God has called them to do.

Management Experiences

The Well Worship Experience

As the overseeing pastor for The Well Worship Experience, I provided strategic, spiritual, and operational leadership to one of Lincoln’s most vibrant young adult worship communities. My work centered on developing sustainable ministry systems, cultivating leadership pipelines, and creating a space where seekers could worship freely without the pressures often associated with traditional church settings.

During this time, I recognized the growing need to raise up the next generation of ministry leaders and launched a structured internship program for college-age and young adult participants. Drawing from a ministry manual I authored, the program offered hands-on experience in worship, teaching, planning, and leadership. Under my guidance, multiple interns emerged as confident leaders and creative ministry innovators, many of whom stepped into expanded leadership roles within The Well and beyond.
